New engine & gearbox needed

Can anyone recommend a supplier of reconditioned engines and gearboxes. My 2.4TD surf started making a clacking noise the other day, then juddered to a halt and wouldn't start up. Apparently the gearbox would cost £700 to repair and garage thinks that the crankshaft has also gone, hence need for new engine - cheaper to replace than repair.

So, if anyone has any experience, good or bad, of sourcing replacement engines and boxes I'd be grateful.

Personally i would rebuild engine as you dont know what the new engine is like. STEVO rebuilds engines, Its his business Tonyn may be able to help as well he's in Basingstoke.
