2.5ltr TDI surf better than 2.4ltr TDI

I have been looking at a very nice 2.5ltr TDi auto surf with 40k miles on the clock. The guy wants 5,790 for it.
It looks mint and drives well, is this a fair price??

Also i understand that the 2.4 Surf suffers from head problems, is the 2.5 ok in this respect.

Is the 2.5 a better surf 4x4 to go for?? Does it have vices of its own?

A couple other questions also,
What is the load carry capacity of a surf?
Any idea what MPG a 2.5TDi will do on a run at around 75MPH

I am keen to buy but i do not want to buy a money pit so any help appreciated

No such thing as a 2.5 surf its a 2.4 surf

Strange, It has 2.5 stamped in to the casting on top of the rocker cover, how can this be?

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. Have you got a link to this Surf? either dealers site or Autotrader etc? As Marky says there are no 2.5tdi Surfs, so we are as baffled as you.

its got 2.5 stamped on it pete

could be that when the head went, it was replaced by something completely different.. what does the log book say?

no theyre 2.4efi diesel turbo, no intercooler 2nd gen surfs
2.4 or 3.0 are the only 2 models on the 2nd gen surf

Dealers often advertise them as 2.5's, but when you get there they are 2.4's. Dont ask me why, I dont know. This one you've seen with 2.5 stamped on the rocker cover is intriguing. Post the phone No and I'll ring tomorrow and find out what the score is with it.

The only thing I can think of is that if it really is a 2.5 then someone has swapped in a Mitsi engine as they did a 2.5TD for the Shogun and the Challenger.
