  • keeps blowing water out the cap?

Hi all, had the head and water pump done by steveo in January, last week i noticed a smell of coolant when i got out, its blowing all over the engine from the rad cap. temp gauge is fine on half way and expansion tank never differs. put about a pint of water in and went to work, did the same. Steveo put a new cap on at 0.6bar so i tryed the old one on again and its doing the same with that. the head sticker he put on is saying it still running cool but its still blowing water out??
    Any clues??

some times the caps can be a bit loose try a new one or bash the little arm bits in a bit so it tightens up a bit, if you know what i mean. I think that bushwacker cut a thin o ring of rubber to fit and that helped sort it too. try a search and see if you can find the thread. good luck
it never rain it pours! glad I got the 4X4

Make sure the spout under the rad cap that the expansion bottle tube fits onto is not blocked.

Also, if it's a 0.6 bar cap, it's the wrong one. Should be 0.9 bar, around 13 psi.

Get one from Toyota, then you will be certain it's the correct type for your vehicle, its about £12.00 not big bucks!

I don't know if you guys can get them over there but I use an "Aunger" rad cap. There are excellent quality, much better than Toyota and last a lot longer. I have had one on for almost three years and it's still perfect. The seal is made of a neoprene type compound and not ordinary rubber. Rubber seals deteriorate and crack after a while and these do not.

all sorted! it was a pin hole in the water pipe just under the thermostat housing, was spraying water up to the cap so looked like it was coming from there!! cheers all for the advice. have got a Toyota cap on now so all should be good.

Over there? No idea. Here's a link to them.

                        http://www.aunger.com.au/

Click on Accessories > Caps > Radiator Caps.

rc900 is the one you want. They retail for about A$10 here.

I'll see if I can find a UK dealer.
