smoke on start up

Just wondering if anyone could help please?
I own a ln130 surf 2.4 auto 1992. I replaced the head last summer ever since on start up i get a missfire and white/grey smoke and then it will clear it self after a minute or so. i have checked the glow plugs and they are all fine. any idears?
Also, another problem. When i select drive and pull away my speedo does not work then about 10 yards or so the O/D OFF light starts flashing. Could it be the speedo drive faulty on the transfer box?
And where can i get a cheap full exhaust system? Milner off road have given me a price of 230 all in. is that good?

Whoo...I let somebody who knows what their talking about help you with that one. But I can tell you Miliner are definetely cheaper than most dealers. They know their stuff and the quality is good.

Leave the ignition on until you hear the warning beeeeeeep!
Then the glowplugs will be hot enough to start the engine smoother.

You're probably low on transmission fluid if the light is flashing once every three seconds.

As yours is a 1992 Surf the speedo will be electronic and probably a loose connector somewhere or is breaking down.


For 250 quid you could get a full stainless exhaust system from places like Powerflow.

For the smoke on start up, i do always wait for the glow plug relay to click befor the beep befor i start the engine and it still does it.
I will check the other probs thanks for the help again.

I get a Del bay exhaust from london £86 pounds including postage i'm pleased with it got brackets and new rubbers thrown in.

Did you have the injectors overhauled?

I sometimes have the same problem but it is only for a second or 2, although recently it dosen't appear to do it any more?

I'm assuming you don't use any water??
