monday the old gal sailed through the mot test....... friday exhaust breaks just in front of silencer. i am rather surprised how quite it runs as the noise is only noticeable when you put your foot down...now the tech bit...... the silencer/rear pipe assy as far as i can tell had been replaced with a standard hilux pickup system she always ran very quite with no problems little sluggish but i put that down to the large wheels/tyres gearing etc..........put your foot down now... noisey yes but it goes like s##t of a shovel.This is not my imagination as i have checked it several times, could it be 1. that the silencer being designed for a 2.4 non turbo engine was restricting the system somehow 2. what would be the best silencer to put back on to ensure i keep this new found boost..... original equipment is not an option as i am not going to pay silly money just because it is an import. Pipework etc is not a problem as i have the neccessary fab equipment... any input appreciated ..cheers

The 3.0 V6 back box fits and is bigger bore.
Two things need to be modified on it (unless you get the complete system) the flange pipe out the front of the 3.0 is about 4" shorter the 2.4 so they will need to cut off your existing flange pipe and re-use it if its in good nick. Also the 3.0 V6 has a resonator box on it, get it cut off it does bugger all on a diesel.
Had this box fitted to mine, also had the pipe modified to exit behind the wheel as opposed of out the back so I didn't keep squashing off roading.

cheers koi looks a neat setup unable to source req parts so have taken a different route ... found a stainless steel rear box off a daimler sovereign have cut one end out and removed all the guts putting a 2 1/2" pipe straight through the middle after drilling about 3 million holes in it this will take it to the original box position.From the front pipe to the pipe coming out of the stainless box i have found that the downpipe from a 2.8 granada fits inside the joining flange spot on and the lazy s,after cutting leaves the box in position,will have to leave as is till monday because i want to tig it all up will keep you posted on result total cost so far zilch
