  • Alternator Tensioner bolt Part#??

Can anyone give me a hand finding the part number for the long bolt used to tension the alternator belts? Mine sheared in two after cranking a little hard. i looked in a parts manual but it did not have this part where the alternator was listed.

    Thanks in advance.

It might be quicker to go to a fasteners specialist (we have Alfast in Luton) or go to your Toyota main dealer. Mine is very helpful and got some hub washers in from Japan (only Toyota use that size) after I dropped one down a storm drain. They only cost me £3.00.
    It's only a hobby!

Why so many busted tensioner bolts? Is it because everyone forgets to slacken off the pivot (large bolt at bottom) and tensioner lock bolts (the top one) beforehand?

I seem to remember several people mentioning having done it that way.

                6mm ???

are you sure that the bolt in question is 6mm dia.?
I seem to remember using a 17mm socket on my one the last time I did the belts. 17mm socket normally means it is an M10 thread.
