  • idle up cable

hi guys its late and im feeling lazy and cant be bothered to get my torch.... does the idle up cable on right lower dash lead to the accelerator pedal itself or does it go into the engine bay?
i snapped the $$$$$$ end off mine today and forgot to look.
any idea of where to get a replacement? cheers

The idle up is electrical, so I guess the wires go to the throttle housing.

As far as I know, the idle up is only electrical on EFI trucks.

Non-EFI have a cable, but I have no idea how or where it's connected...
      It just does, OK?

When you pull it, does the bonnet pop up?

I don't know the answer, but I think there's an idle up button on some and a hand throttle on others. Sounds like you've got the hand throttle. There was one on my 2.4 and that was EFI.

You're no closer to the answer, but you're not alone on having a knob. Fnar fnar...

He's got a knob, it's just that nothing happens when he pulls it!

Its connected to the throttle cable area,,basically you turn it round and round and your revs rise and hold correct? i use mine as a cruise control lol Good luck

There was an overlap, the cable was a non-efi feature, but I've seen a couple of early EFI trucks that have a cable idle up, but all the later ones are electronic.

The cable pushes the throttle pedal down, its on the pedal under the dash, the electronic version does it via the EFI fuel pump.

The electronic version only works in P or N, but like Whirly said, the cable one works all the time so you can use when driving.
