  • Oil deposit on air intake hose

Not being the most mechanically minded, can anyone tell me what it means when I have old oil deposits / buildup on the join of the air intake hose and the manifold end of the turbo?

I noticed this while looking over the car the other day, and wondered if it was likely to cause me issues?

    TIA

    Andrew.

Thats normal, the oil is from the breather pipe that comes from the valve cover on top of the engine. Just give the tubes a wipe out every couple of months or so.
Or fit an oil catch can!

      Thanks Vince!

I'll clean it all up this weekend.

If you got a litte time to spare remove both intakes and hoses from air cleaner to turbo and turbo to throttle housing, give em a spray with degreaser, wash off, dry and inspect for any damage such a cracks or dodgy clamps. Fairly simple job.

          Hi Nev

I'll do that in the morning - seems a good way to get out of having to go shopping...
