Code 12 ECU error on 2.4TD Surf

Whats a code 12 please.

I have looked in the docs found on this site and it goes on about 2 types of ECU codes.

So is 12 on a 2.4TD Surf

RPM SIGNAL-NO SIGNAL TO ECU FROM DISTRIBUTOR ("Ne" OR "G") AFTER ENGINE HAS BEEN CRANKED
--DISTRIBUTOR/CIRCUIT

--STARTERSIGNAL CIRCUIT

--IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT

--ECU


OR

KNOCK SENSOR?

What sort of ballpark figure are we looking it at to have the fuel pump replaced? I assume thats the remedy for the fault by reading the posts on Timer Control Valve.

Anyone here had it done?

And can anyone recommend an experienced garage up Yorkshire way to look at my Surf. Cars currently been in one garage 1 year and Im keen to get it back and take it elsewhere for a quick solution.
