  • 4wd dumb newbie question...

    right chaps,

    '92 SSR-X

would someone mind explaining the gear selectors please:

what are the 3 different positions of the right hand gear selector for?
which should I select for normal road driving?

and how do i engage 4wd??????

no, stop tutting please. I've got a manual on ORDER, so I will read it, I promise... but i dont want to drive it in 4wd unwittingly, if the 4wd light is knackered.

I'm sure I'm gonna have a lot more questions, such as 'how mush faster is a BLUE one anyway'? etc....

The 3 positions are High, Neutral and Low ratio - Low being nearest the dash, and low will automatically engage 4wd, for high press the button on the side of the gear lever.

BUT DO NOT ENGAGE 4WD IN ANY WAY WHEN YOU ARE ON THE TARMAC, USE IT OFFROAD ONLY.

Leave lever in the rear position for normal driving.

      cheers m8

Thats more or less what i thought, similar to an old L**die I had once.
So, does the ratio lever 'override' the main gear selector when N is selected? in that, if its in middle Neutral position, you aint going NOWHERE regardless of selecting drive, reverse etc on the main selector?
