  • Problems on start up...

    At the moment when I start my car from cold it miss fires and smokes like hell, can anyone tell me what could be the problem???

    are you letting glow plugs heat up enough before you sart up??
    or could be faulty glow plugs....

      glow plugs or faulty pre-heat. can you here the pre-heat clicking?

          There's an 80 amp fuse the the black box under the bonnet. To remove it, if it's blown, you have to get to the underneath of the fuse box to get the the screw holding the fuse in place.

            mine does too and my glowplugs are fairly new and the click is always there

              mine used to do this - i would wait for the glow plug light to go out and then turn the key

              but now, after reading the tip on this forum, i wait till the beeeeeeeeep noise kicks in and then turn the key

              no more misfiring juddering and smoke on start up - beautifull!
              problems? i'll take 'em.

                Sorted

                Well it just appeared that I was not listening hard enough, the clicking was there, I just hung on for a bit after the glow plug light went out then turned the key... spot on! Just not knowing what I was doing as this is my first surf.

                  As you have a 2.4, wait a little longer after the click and you should hear a warning beeeeep! I always wait for this beeep and never have starting troubles.
