Just sorted out the lumpy running problem on my beastie, which was a vacuum pipe hanging off the car making it run like a bag of bolts on tickover!

Bought a new rad cap, after reading all the posts about the precious cooling, and not wanting to blow the new head up, fittied it yesterday, now the water pump is leaking ! Typical, new one coming tomorrow...

      Hi all,

I am gettin just a tad wound up with this fing!

Ok, thought I had sorted the rough tickover sorted out, started it , all ok, went round the block, all ok, came to a roundabout, and it started again, pulled away, noticeable puff of black smoke, pulled up outside home, and even when its in park, sometimes it ticks over great, othertimes its like its only working on 3 cylinders, and then back to 4?

Could this be an injector ??

I'm asking for help here as I don;t know that much about diesels, it has got a new head, valves, re-shimmed cam followers, new gaskets everywhere, new timing belt and tensioner, it will have a new exhaust tomorrow, and water pump.

Has anyone else had this lumpy running thing ?
