  • No 4 wheel drive

Ok , here's a wierd one . Dropped my LN130 into a 4x4 specialist today to see if they could fix the non working 4 wheel drive (it runs fine in 2 wheel drive mode) . He informed me that there had been a lot of cables and wires disconnected but had refit them and the 4 wheel drive was now working at the flick of the switch as it where . When i picked it up , of course i engaged 4x4 mode to test it out . Off i went down the road but the Surf was pulling to the left one minute and then more so to the right . It felt really bad so i disengaged 4x4 mode but nothing happened . It's now stuck in 4x4 mode (with the switch off) and driving terrible . Obviously explains why the previous owner had disconnected it . Any ideas where my trouble lies . Help would be much appreciated

You should not use 4 wheel drive on the road as you can cause transmission wind up!!!
If you try a search on this you will find a lot more info that should help you

Have you tried reversing and turning the steering from left to right, this usually free's the 4wd actuators if their jammed on through using 4wd on the road. You may have to jack one or both front wheels up to release it

Check all the vacuum lines from the soloinds on the inner wing/front axle and t/case are OK, it may be something simple like that.

Otherwise you need to figure out how to disconnect it manually, or the garage does, they told its works, which it blatently doesn't.

There is a solonid on the back of the transfer case, and a sliding coller on the long side of the front axle, one of these two will be sticking on.
