Reccomended Engine Oil

What oil would you guys suggest using, have used Magnatec previously but $$$$$$ expensive.

Also how much would i need for a complete oil change?

I use Comma 15W40 semi-synthetic oil. You'll need about 7-7.5 litres including filter.

Asda/Car Care Turbo Diesel Oil £4.99 for 5L- just make sure you change cheaper oils every 5000km.

Get youself into a servicing routine each time the clock passes a 5,000km milage 'waypoint'. Mine's next due in 400km time at 170,000km. Next service will thus be 175,000km. Easy!

i do the same - all filters and oil at ##5,000km and oil/filter only at #10,000kms.

will switch to K&N soon to save that one

I use Exon turbo diesel oil, it's £6 for 5 litres from a local discount motor spares place.
My Surf takes between 6.75 and 7 litres. I change it every 5000kms as the others do.
Never had any trouble with it and the engine runs sweet as a nut.

i changed mine recently for 15w40 elf diesel engine oil and have noticed engine is now a little more tappety. not a heavy tapping but more of a tinny tap. hope its ok

well i was gonna switch too a 15w40 to get rid of my tapping
im using 10w40 at the mo and is prob a bit thin on an old girl like mine.

same,as bushwhacker, i've used Comma oils for all my motors, its good quality stuff and good VFM, not the cheapest, but in all fairness with something as important as oil you don't want to cut corners for the sake of a few quid, especially in a diesel. had my taxi's and private cars running on them, no problems at all.
