Gordon's new rules won't affect most of us as they only relate to cars registered after 2001.

increase for us (2.4 or 3ltr) will be £5 per year - COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE!!!

Unless you have a surf reg'd after 2001 (should be registered same year as manufactured so if made in 1997 but imported in 2003, should carry a P or R plate)

    hope this helps

Few weeks ago , had new rad fitted, timing belt, and service.
The rad had leaked for a while (just a dribble),but kept the 'ol gal' topped up regularly. I made a fatal mistake by putting radseal in to stop leak. Next thing i new ,THE RAD BLEW. After getting it fixed, the true problem reared its ugly head, yep ,you guessed it, CRACKED HEAD, apparently been like it some time and i never new it. Instructed my mechanic to order complete new modified head from 'STEVO'. His service was excellent. Get 'ol gal' back monday.
she done 102000kms. If your not very mechanically minded, dont worry, you learn very quickly once you own a surf, they are 'infectious'. you cant help lovin em, for all thier faults.

65,000 miles I believe that it's correct my wife took the surf on holiday and called me at home to say that the cam belt light had come on. I asked her if the trip was on 70,000 she said it had just rolled onto 70,000 when light came on so I believe it's genuine. Got new belt fitted when head was replaced at 65,000 miles reset trip when she came home.

              Cheers JB

About 110,000km if my memory serves me. Wouldn't rely on it too much, I've been trying to forget about it!!

I can now give my milage as to when my head went lol.
                  91,000 km`s.

The head has been fine up until this weekend when we went away in the caravan.
It seemed to be okay but after putting the van away, but the missus drove up the road i noticed the white smoke.

It wasnt too bad until this morning when it wouldnt start, and when it eventually did, i could not beleive how much white smoke came out, i couldnt see a thing in the rear view mirror for a couple of miles.

I guess this must have been as water must have seeped out into the head over night so there was plenty of water there to burn off.

Ordered a new one from stevo this afternoon.
A guy not too far from us has said he will do the job for a £100, guess he`s never done a surf before lol.

Think i`ll have to get him to do the matrix at the same time as well as put a speedo face whilst the dash is off.

Gotta find a way of paying the credit card off now so it looks like an early end to the caravan season.

Is this a good time to get the begging bowl out

                    140,000 km but still okay

Sorry to hear about the head situation. I have just purchased a K plate 2.4 with 140k KM on clock and no sign the head's been changed. Kind of hope I'm in the 80%ers but you never now! Worried sick of course now!
