  • Radiator Problem

    Hey guys,
I've been a owner of a 92 2.4 turbo diesel surf for 2.5 years. Very happy with my car as it has never let me down, but I seem to have continous problems with radiator top tank the top tank continously leaks, any reasons for this? I recently noticed i have a diesel leak at start up also but after a couple of minutes of driving the leak seems to stop. The leak seems to be from around the fuel pump. Any help would be appriciated.

The Surf radiator top tanks are very thin and the metal becomes brittle with age. Only real solution is a new top tank if the core is ok. Fuel pumps will all leak eventually. Newer diesel is low sulphur so the seals shrink and harden. Top seals can be replaced on vehicle but anything else requires pump removal. Probably a good time to have the pump rebuilt (not cheap) and iniectors serviced.

    Lots of info here.
