Been covered many times before . Try the search facility . But it will most posibly be a broken wire in the trunking between door and A pillar .

thanks mate. i have, since posting checked and found it a common problem.

For a beginner, wil the wire appear broken, or broken on the inside?

How do i check where it has gone to repair it?

The wires which broke on my tailgate appeared OK , but when tested with a meter were broken inside the insulation of the wire .
