  • Poor Fuel Economy 2.4td Ssrx 1993

Don`t think my Fuel Economy too good. 15mpg round town 21 on long journeys. Haven`t noticed Black smoke or Diesel knocks. Not heavy footed normally neither. It has 33" tyres and 4.875 Diffs. My turbo is boosting at 10.5 psi without it being modified which seems odd. It goes like a train.!!Do the injectors cause bad fuel economy. What about blocking off EGR, anyone done it and what advantage, more power or better economy etc.

you economy is not that bad, if you are running 33's
mines on 31's and i get anything between 16 mpg to 22 mpg
egr mod just lessens the smoke
just packed out turbo actuator on mine now for the first time i have used my brakes going up hill, wot a difference the engine has woken up
more power strangly equals better mpg providing you dont flogit.

2.4 Turbo's should be 5.5-7.3 psi @ 2,200-2,400 rpm according to my manual.

                      I think 1 bar is 14 or 15 psi .

                        0.39-0.53 kg/cm3 (bar) or 38-52 kPA.

damn thing already had 2mm washers in it!
so i stuck 2 more in to see how it goes... slightly higher boost at the mo but it wont show till i get to drive a hill or have the trailer on. might take em all out and perhaps my economy will get back to what it should be... sure helps me understand why mine can sometimes be so bad. Its had the washer in it probably a couple of years then - i just didnt know! I guess its one of the things that happen when you buy from someone else who reads the forum

14.7 psi = 1 bar at sea level

so 7.3 psi is 0.5 bar
They can go fast, I can go anywhere.
