  • Transmission type?

I have a 92 SSR-X Auto Surf and wanna do an oil change on the transmission. On my bulk head is says the transmission type is A343F But this does not seem to correspond to anything in the workshop manual I have. I think it is dextron II ATF i need to put it in I just dont know how much. Any help would be much appreciated. James

I use Duckhams transmission fluid, it's dextron III. It's a bit trial and error filling the transmission, pour some in, check level on dipstick, pour in some more, check dipstick etc etc.

A fluid change on an auto only removes a small amount of fluid. Something you should consider on an older vehicle is a complete flush which removes and replaces all the fluid. This will need to be done by an auto specialist.

I think the III is the replacement to the II. The same as Dot4 brake fluid has replaced Dot3.
