sump removal

hi, does anyone know if i can remove the sump in situ on a 1992 2.4 surf, if so whats involved,only the engine has been out once for a crank grind , didnt take out the pistons to check, now have one cylinder down on comp,dooh.

No one has done this job before ? If a PISTON is shot its probably better getting the engine out.
