fuel filter in tank?

is there a filter in the tank? i have a '91 h reg surf ssr-ltd ln130, another member on here said he found his under a black plate under the drivers side passenger seat, i have looked under said plate and can see nothing.

Is it somewhere else on my surf as he said his was clogged full of gunk so woundering whether mine maybe as she is a bit dodgy at the mo.

any help appreciated

Your probably thinking of the tank breather, it has a small filter on the end of the pipe to stop junk geting up it, the pipe lays across the top of the tank and the open end is usually tucked into a hole in the chassis.
