Occasionally, the glow plug light will fail to come on and I don't hear the relay clicking in, is this common or an early indiacation of the glow plug relay failing? It's a plastic topped relay, not metal.

Have just noticed that the engine check light fails to come on when I get this fault.
Happening more frequently this afternoon as well.

It's the imobilizer!
If you don't let the red light go out within seconds of switching on the ignition it bypasses the supply to the light on the dash. If you wait you will still hear the click though.
If the light doesn't go out for a while (red imob) when it does you have already missed the yellow light on the dash..........
