Air conditioner relay clicking

I have a problem with the airconditioner. It happens after having the air con on for about 5 min then there is a rapid clicking noize like a switch going off and on very very fast for about 5 seconds. I opened the dash and it is comming from the relay ( I think ) round metal electrical component behind glove compartment. ?????? any thoughts.
