Hello, I'm looking to buy my first surf, its a 2.4 ssr-x and i have noticed there is a second rad on the underside of the engine bay. Is this for the air conditioning? or a mod? Any help would be much appreciated. James

There should be a skid plate covering it. If this is missing you should be able to pick one up from the forum. Of course the best way to protect it is to remove it - but that's another story

Mine has this as well, turned out to be a pain 'cos fitting a new A Bar meant that I had to cut the brackets etc. etc.
How many 2.4's have this?
Is it good, bad or just ugly?
The mech I spoke to said it was NOT air con it was a cooling radiator for the transmission!
Remove it!, surely not, it is a good thing, isn't it??

All EFi 2.4's have it apart a few of the very last years model. non EFI 2.4 2.4's and 3.0's all have it front of the main rad and makes life a hell of a lot easier!Originally posted by hellmett

Like Roger said, question the mech's abilities in future, especially if he actually looked at it and still said it was an oil cooler.
