starting problem

can anyone help me with this problem iv been having for the last few days my surf has been really hard to start not only when cold but even after its hot if i pump the manual pump before i turn her over she,ll will start strait away could it be something to do with my fuel pump when she is running she runs fine

This thread has the potential to straight down the pan with comments like that !!

Anyway the most likely cure will be to replace the primer pump / fuel filter assembly. That bit which you pump by hand.

I had this problem, replaced it with a Scania/Volvo unit and never had a problem since.
You can get genuie Toyota ones but I got mine from a truck spares place.
