Anyone got a new Rad for sale

Hi All

I finally went down to Needham Market in suffrolk to collect my repaired Surf after the deer damage. Mike Ribbons at Brockford Accident repair centre had never seen a Surf before but while mine was in he got another accident damaged one in same colour as mine.

The guys did a cracking job for me. Nothing was too much trouble they even got a new wee wing mirror and even polished the alloys.

Everything was going really well until today when my wife arrived home in Surf I could smell coolant coming from under the bonnet. Luckily there was plenty of fluid in system. Checking it out I found the seem has gone on the rad which on close inspection seems to have lots or what looks like rough repairs across the top. Nothing to do with my accident cos the rad wasnt touched in prang.

I desperatley need a new radiator can anyone help source one. Are they standard ie same as the toyota hilux pickup from main dealers?

How much will one cost ?

Also needing an outer CV joint boot on nearside mines cracked.

If your handy with a blow lamp and solder, it's not hard to repair the rad if it's only a split. I've done two now. The radiators have two extra outlets on the bottom for the auto transmission, so I doubt a pick-up one will fit, unless the pick-up is and auto of course.

New rads are plenty money!

specialists will repair...go to an independant for the best deal..if they cant repair they can re-build - retank - or recore yours, should work out a whole lot cheeper too!!

hi john dont throw the old one away ,mine did the same and i took mine to my local rad repairer ,they fitted a new top tank on mine there seems to be a fault on the pressing out off the top ,they tend to go thin on the rolled edges someone else on here sent theres from london i think down to southampton to Kingston radiators for the same repair.do a search for water level ,or kingston rads and theres a photo of my rad after it was re installed ,hope this helps.

Cheers Guys I will take it off road and get radiator out anything to worry about when taking it out any special sequence to save bursting the core.
Did you notice the bit about the CV boot.

Remove the engine fan blades. Just the blades, leave the viscous part in place then you don't have to remove then replace and retension the drive belts. Don't forget to block the ends of the two auto transmission fluid cooler hoses from the bottom of the rad, as you will loose all your transmission fluid.

I am Just waiting for a drier day to get onto it. I wrote down the dry days for 2005 and have just added tthem up from last years callander 79 dry days intotal !!!

roughtrax do some reconditioned exchange radiators.when mine split, i went for that option..delivered the next day, and looked brand new..its been in over a year now, and no problems..couldn't recommend their rads, or service highly enough..even managed to return mine via royal mail.(yes, i did have to put it on the scales)..

Hi there, theres a place in manchester called slickparts that do all kinds of new stuff for imports at not to expansive prices, and next day delivery at very good prices, ive just got a new exhaust for £109+£10 del bargain give them a call nothing to loose heres there tel no Ring 0870 44 50 700 / 0870 44 50 701, hope this helps Nigel
