    .
It gets easier with a few goes and a very long ( 24" ) extension for your socket to get that inside bolt.
I have got it down to under 20mins each way!

For a giggle have a read of one of my starter episodes

      20 mins each way?!!

hmmm,,,,, sounds like this is a common problem. fack doin it again out in the cold on damp concrete. (no garage)
i only got the starter fully tightened up today,

such a relief when it started up tho.

now just my piece of sh1t bluebird to sort out down the drive.

then i can resume my life.

      until the clicking comes back
      its broken again..... isnt it.

        20 mins!!!

Took that long to unscrew the top bolt, then getting it to take when re assembling kin nightmare.

Went thru same as you, I was sent a kit then to only find out that it fits a 3ltr. So bought new one which was alot smaller.

Not a job that I would want to do again, had to do mine in the rain although bonnet down I actually fitted in the wheel arch.

No probs now, just waiting for the rear window to pack up.

        Steve
        Should have bought a 3ltr

haha, i think it took me longer than 20 mins to get that top bolt out, try like, 40 mins!

yeah the rear screen, my electric ariel is starting to go, no doubt that is ANOTHER common fault.

heres the number for anyone who needs a starter refurb in cheshire

          0151 3561110 - PORT ELECTRICS

the guys retired but works from home in ellesmere port (by the outlet village) near chester.
knows his stuff, was gonna get the parts for just under 40 quid but he gave the whole starter a refurb, new brushes, bearings, contacts, etc.
for 65 quid with a 6 month warranty.

looks like ill be replacing it in 7 months then.
          its broken again..... isnt it.
