Can anyone tell me what size (amp) the battery on a 2.4, 91, single battery
    should be. Mine keeps cooking.

For a single battery, it's got to be at least 700cca.

If its cooking new batteries you want to get the Alternator checked by an auto electrician! they usually do it for free as they only need to clip on a meter

Too small. The starter will be sucking the life out of a 400 CCA every time you start it, not to mention all the electrics on the Surf. Get a 650 - 750 CCA. Even better, a twin battery setup with an isolator. That way you can even jump start yourself if one battery fails.

i had some problems with my surf starting when the weather got cold. don't **** around - get a massive 800cca boy racer battery and some glow plugs from Milner Off Road and it'll start every time.
