What am I on about I hear you ask ?.......... my 93 import surf , has a small red button just forward of the auto gear lever .... with some japenese writting next to it. I cannot find a reference to it in the owners book, sooooooooooooo...... what's it for ???

press that red button to move the gear selector when motor is turned off

Knew someone would know.......... many thanx for that, I can now have hours of fun sitting in the carpark, engine off, playing with the selector !
