the ect button above gear select, when i push it nothin happens except the icon on dash come on i dont notice any diference, i am wondering if this may be the cause of my **** mpg!!! is it stuck on. when the button is pushed on and off the dash icon comes on and off, but no change in engine, is there a way of pullin a fuse so its completey disabled?

The ECT won't immediately be noticeable, the engine just hold in gear longer before changing up if you boot it.

Bad MPG is more likely to be dirty injectors, dirty air filter etc.
