Transmission overheating ?

My 92 ssrx Surf 's (automatic) gear leaver and surrounding area seems to get really hot after driving only 50km (not towing, on tar road, not in 4x4) The transmission fluid leavels are fine both hot and cold and the fluid is red and clear. The transmission is also changing perfectly up and down- is this heating normal? or should I be looking at some other things - any help would be much appriciated - regards

i've just changed my transmission fluid, and theres nowhere near as much warmth there now, but it is still warm
