Sorry to resurect this thread but can you confimr that by disconnectin gthe EGR I will get less smoke because the engine is running hotter? HAs anyone had any adverse effect to the head?

hi Sheeprus - You will get less smoke when pulling - I'm not sure whether it runs hotter or not but basically it stops you using the exhaust gas twice.

I did this when i first got my truck last year - no ill effects at all! - never heard of anyone having a problem with it either

ps.. check your mot failure thread

Did this mod on my pajero and it worked brill.

Can it be done on the KZN185 and if so, do I have to do anything to the leccy gubbins (fault codes etc.) Would it be a good idea to disconnect the batteries and reset the ECU afterwards?

Anything for bit more power (although the surf doesn't smoke at all)

              cheers

I dunno about the 3rd gen engines, but on the 2nd gen the ECU is not affected by the EGR mod.
