  • Advice On Purchasing A 2.4

    Hi All,

I'm a newcomer to 4x4's and after some advice, i'm after a vehicle for hawking.

I have just been to view a 2.4 Surf, H reg and it has done 146,000 km looks in very good condition priced at £2,995 from a 4x4 dealer. Is this a good deal???

    Cheers,

    Simon

lol, Thanks for the info, I fly a Male Harris decided its time to look for a 4x4 i'm getting fed up of cramming all my kit in my car and a cars not that practical for falconry.

I see most of the Surfs seem to have automatic transmission do you get many manual ones about???

          Cheers,

          Simon

A freind of mine has a 2.8 manual, and it is very nice.

I have the 2.4 Auto. In fact my advice about buying a 2.4 is... Don't, buy a 2.8 instead, I love mine but the engine does let it down a bit.

Hi Simon!! Wondered if you'd make it here!

              http://www.yotasurf-online.co.uk/pub...howthread.php?

The 2.8 is a petrol motor. Very nice but a bit thirsty...

Actually - one thing I didnt mention before..... the later 3.0 - the 3rd gen - late 95 onwards - has a tailgate that opens up instead of down. I recall on falconer saying this worked better for getting birds in/out in the rain as you can keep them under cover (and you) whilst getting them ready. Maybe out of price range though.

                Hi Linda,

Thanks for all the help and information, much appreciated.

Cheers Medieval Dave, just from looking around the site and from what others have told me it does seem you can get a few problems with the 2.4.

                Cheers,

                Simon

                  Hawk

Might be about to reluctantly sell my 2.4. It is a K Plate SSRX with 128,000 K's. It has had the head replaced with the decent one. It will be £3000. I am in Shaftesbury and work near Amesbury if you want to have a look.
