  • Engine Stalls when idle and accelerating

    Hi Folks,

I have a 1991 Surf with 2LT-E engine. Recently I had the fuel pump replaced with a reconditioned one and also had it serviced (oil change, fuel pump filter change, air filter change).

The car runs a whole lot better but the only problem is that it stalls.

The engine will stall while idling and also when running with my foot on the accelerator.

Sometimes just before it stalls there is a sudden surge in revs - but not all the time.

70% of the time it will easily restart after it stalls. 30% of the time it takes ages to get it to start.

When I do the diagnostic test the code I get is 6 - Pump Speed Sensor. I am not sure if this is caused by the stalling of the engine or the attempt to restart it. Does this refer to a sensor at the fuel pump?

Has anyone seen this problem before?
Any ideas what I should be checking next?

    Thanks in advance.
