  • oil consumption on 2.4 LTE

I'm a new boy so bear with me. I have a 93 2.4TD SSR-X. I had it a week and the head cracked, it was replaced under warranty with the modified head.

I was using a lot of oil, about a litre every 1500 miles. The turbo was replaced for a rebuilt exchange item by Turbo Technics, again under warranty. The diesel pump has been backed off as it poured black smoke and smelt very rich with the rear window open. Runs better now and am getting close to 30mpg.

It is now running beautifully, but I am still using a bit of oil, any ideas? It doesn't seem to be dropping it, or smoking. No evidence of mixing either.

How much oil should it use, am I use to low use petrol engines?

My 1993 2.4 doesnt use oil as many others dont as they dont tend to burn it.
Unless rings are worn = lots of black smoke.
valve stem seals = black smoke on startup
