smoke on starting

i i've just bought a k-reg 2.4 deisel and when i start up in when the ngine is cold i have a big pool of smoke come out of the exhaust then black smoke when i accelerate, this stops once the engine has warmed up, is there a fix for this

Could be glow plugs not working, one broken down. Also worth chucking a bottle a redex in the tank to clean the injectors, but suspect glow plugs as its ok when its warm.

thanks for your help next question is where are the glow plugs and the air filter on the surf and can anyone tell me the the 2 buttons are next to the suspension button mine all in japanese

air filter is in a big round box to the right of the engine bay, 3 clips hold the lid on - pop these and change the filter. 30 second job

Glow plugs, right hand side of engine next to injectors. They are the ones with a metal (plastic coated) bar joining them together.
As for the buttons, could be rear fogs, front fogs, idle up etc a couple of pics would be good

one of the buttons is idle, what does this do and another one with no writing on it just a green light at the top

press the idle up in N or P and it will raise the revs (for winches etc)
the other one sounds like a fog, try it with full/main beam on.,
