4wd wont engage
ive recently bought a 1993 surf .. my prob is that it wont select 4wd but i can hear the relay clicking when i am pushing the button .... any advice anyone on here can give me ..cheers ..

When you say it won't engage- do you mean that just green dash light won't come on or that 4wd actually won't engage?Originally posted by grunt

no green light comes on on dash and no it dont go into 4x4.....the click i am hearing is behind the panel in front of the gear stick (automatic)... i stripped it out and it seems to be some kind of fancy unit ... i dont know how it works with it being electrical and not manual (that i am used to) but is there a throw type mechanism on the gearbox that could be stuck with lack of use ? ......Comment

Check the top left fuse in the fuse box down by the gas pedal.Comment

i get the jeep back next week.. its in the process of getting a new engine fitted which i purchased from nippon jap spares .. the other engine developed a serious rattle which sounded like it was in the top end but after getting it stripped indicated to be bottom end so i went down the road of fitting a replacement motor with 33.000 miles .. so once i get it back ill check the fuse ... ill keep you posted cheers .....
