Evening all,
the Surf has been running just fine for the past 1000kms or so since the new head, but the instructions with the head bolts said they should be re-torqued using the final step of the procedure after 1000 to 1500kms. The instructions looked like generic ones that go with every set of head bolts for loads of makes of engine though, as the Surf-specific (ie. stretch-bolt specific) instructions looked like they were printed on afterwards.
The final 2 steps were to turn through 2 sets of 90degrees - I can't see how re-doing that will help set a specified torque, without going back to the first specified torque setting and then re-turning by 90degrees twice. I've also read somewhere that stretch bolts don't need to be re-torqued.
Do I need to re-torque them or not? If so, in what way?
Thanks
James
