  • exhaust needed

Well it’s finally happened – the rear pipe on the exhaust has split, I’ve done a search on exhausts etc (loads of posts) so has anyone found a decently priced replacement for a 2.4 TD (93 model).

I think I only need the end bit but as this is the first time to replace it on the Surf any advice greatly appreciated – along with bits of free exhausts too lol

Hi some classic car specialists offer to make replacements exhausts for the life of ownership of the vehicle in stainless steel if we get a load of owners together then they may agree to produce a bulk quantity at reduced rates. Depends how many variants there are for our surfs.

I drove mine like that untill it became a 2 foot split
Can you not make an excuse to fit a stainless one? Do away with the tiny little end pipe and get it to side exit to avoid damaging offroad if you can

I had a complete stainless exhaust fitted yesterday, custom made to my specififcation (ready for MOT next week). Re-routed around the 33" tyre now hanging underneath and exiting the car at a sensible place and angle so that it doesn't get ripped off the bottom of the car every time I go offroading (will post more info & pics in Mods Section later).

Total cost was £340 inc VAT which I didn't think was too bad for a complete custom stainless sytem.

The exhaust components were made by:

          www.powerflow.uk.com/

          and fitted in Leamington by:

          www.ABmotorsport.co.uk

You could probably find a Powerflow fitter closer to home though

I went with a 2-1/2 press bend jobby with free-flow muffler from after the flex for $245.
BTW it was going to be $600+ for 2-1/2" press bend turbo to tail.

After doing a lot of reading here about exhausts I figured that $600 for a 10% gain vs $245 for a 6-7% gain was a no brainer.

Bang for buck just replace the rear section (flex to tail) with 2-1/2 freeflow.
