  • power ???????????????????????

anyone got the answer to a little query
i drive a puegoet expert 20ltr turbo diesel all week it has 100 horse power it weighs 1.9 ton it does 35+ mpg gets up to 105 miles per hour and 0-60 in the same week.
so wots with the surf 2.4 turbo disel 85 bhp (ish) 1.8 ton 20 mpg 90 mph down hill with a tail wind and 0-60 in a month..... can't tow up hill without getting hot and sweaty and they say japs build great vehicles ( but i still love it to bits )

i know a coparision between to totally diff vehicles is not fare but a bit more efficiency from the surf would be good
Surf.gone but not forgottendisco now gone aswell

isnt your peugeot a common rail diesel?
it has a much more sophisticated engine management system?
is it the 8 valve or 16 valve?
its a direct injection compared to indirect injection on your surf
better thermal efficiency on a direct injection

That's a bit like asking why a 40 year old can't beat 10 secs for 100m when a 20 year old can do it easily

          97HP our little 2.4's.
Newer deisel engines as said are far more effiecient than our oil burners.

Thats the thing, for its HP rating, a 2.4 is quite a powerful motor.

not bad torque for the size thats why I bought it
I remember when I helped my Dad look for a towcar and we ended up getting a Rover 825 turbo diesel, engine was made by VM and was from a boat, it had 115 horsepower which was almost the best in its class bar some BMW lumps. Just look now how much HP a 2.5TD makes now!!! Scary how quick new diesels are getting.
