2.4 worries

Hi guys new on here just about to purchase a toyota hilux surf 2.4 td its recently imported from japan unfortunatly no histary came with it so there is no way of telling if the head has gone or not so just wondering if anyone can tell me how much it would cost to have the head done if it does go??

and can anyone tell me what to look for as this is my first 4x4 (ie any problem areas i need to know about before i go to look at one)

any help would be much appreciated

Wez I have a Surf 2.4 G reg nice vehicle, had it about six months total cost so far £2040 the £40 is for Two tyres I had to buy.
