Slight whistle at idle with my rebuilt Surf
Hi everyone,
After rebuilding the engine (2.42lte) with a new head from Stevo, got it started OK today, runs just fine, turbo works etc... however, when it's up to temperature there is a medium level whistling sound, which seems to be coming from just around the metal EFI pipe across the top of the engine.
The car appears to run just fine and idles at the right temp, but this whistle is bothering me as I don't know what it is.
Does the turbo normally create a noise at idle? (it certainly whistles well under load).
When revved the sound quietens off (I think - it's not a loud sound and so hard to hear when the engine revs). It certainly doesn't get louder as the engine revs.
Any ideas anyone? For some reason this sort of sound makes me really paranoid....
