  • Head Alert

A little bird has told me that The New Heads from the certain suppliers are the original heads that were fitted to the SURF. As you all know these heads will crack at some point. These are not the Modified Heads so please check with the supplier before purchase.

These have recently bought a batch from JAPAN.

Previous heads bought from the certain suppliers may be OK

If its true, no reason to remove it. As long as you can back it up if challenged by the mentioned suppliers.

***edit- make that unmentioned suppliers! ***

From evidence found & measurements etc it can be shown that these heads are of original design.

You need to measure the HEADS thickness new heads are 2mm thicker you will notice the waterway holes in the side of the head are 2mm higher as they are furter away from the valve area.
There are no external numbers or markings to tell you of production or spec etc.

If you ask at time of purchase if you are buying a modified head and the reply is yes and it turns out to be an original design then they are liable under the trade descriptions act. If they say it is an original type of head then either don't buy it or decide whether or not you want to take the chance. If the 2.4 Surf engine was discontinued in 93 when the 3lt became available (apart from spares stock) then these heads must have been lying on a shelf somewhere for a long time or some pattern part manufacturer has gotten hold of the original casting moulds from somewhere.

2.4s were available alongside the 3s until 3rd gens came along, no?

Also werent the 2L??? available in pickups until the D4D came along maybe 5 yrs ago.

Marky, this is like the episode of Scrubs on last nite. The doc wanted to tell this fine gal who he fancied bigtime her boyfriend had gonnorhea but the BF wouldnt let him under patient confidentiality.

So setting aside that Stevo might have gonnorhea, have yourself and himself been given head from anyone else

The 2.4 was phased out in 1993 the 2nd gen 3.0 in 1995 then came along the 3rd gen. A member had recently got one from another popular source when engine blew the head was an original replacement.
