bent steering arms?

While I was fitting the new head to my Surf I noticed that both steering arms have bends in them. I wouldn't have minded but the passenger side one has quite a sharp double bend with flaky paint and rust around the bend, which makes it look like something has hit it. The car appear(ed) to track straight and the tyres look OK - should the arms be bent like this?

I don't have the car here to take a photo of unfortunately.
