Help! getting damn cold wot!

Ok this is probably totally obvious but I have looked, honest, for a thread covering this on blowers. My heating is just blowing cold and the problem I think is the cable that opens the blower door attached from the sliding heater switch. I've changed a blower on an old Shogun (may it rot in hell) and just want to know if the blower and cable attachment are accesed from the back of the glovebox. I'm hoping it just needs a good greasing.

The cable for the temp control runs to a valve mounted on the engine side of the bulkhead and can be seen easily .

Just having discovered this site I've just read your mail about your heating system. I had a similar problem, at first it was intermittent and then constant, shortly after the temp guage went through the roof and the head gasket blew taking the head with it! Sorry if this is alarming. Iv'e just had a recond. head fitted and less than 60miles later it's showing signs of doing the same again. The switch you talk of is sticking but even when opened manually is only giving heat sometimes. Its' currently back with the garage who are looking at the cooling system. I've read on other sites that the 2.4 has a fault with the cooling system and when it goes it takes the head very quickly. My mechanical knowledge is very basic so am at a bit of a loss and nervous especially after spending 2K on repairs so far!!! Does anybody have any more details on what this "well known" fault is? Hope this isn't what's happening to your surf. Good luck.

The prob is a recon head . Only a new head will prevent the fault reaccuring .

As rick says recon heads are a waste of time as they will go again ask your garage to source one through the forum if they want to replace it again.

Thanks very much for the advice fellas, bad news thought it is. In fact very bad news after having spent 2k on the repair. Just to clarify the problem. They have been road testing it over the last 2 days. All been running sweet as a nut then all of a sudden the guage climbs very quickly. Is changing it for a brand new head really the only option. If so It might be a case of getting rid of the surf (just haven't got the cash). I would be gutted if this is the case as I really love it and have had no other problems over the last 13months.

It is possible that your current problem is an air lock in the cooling system, especially likely if you have just had it drained and re-filled. Depending on where the air lock is it can block the flow of coolant through the system. An air bubble will compress under the pressure of the pump and can sometimes cause the coolant to be blown out of the rad cap.
There is a post on the Forum about "Burping the Cooling System" - see link below. It is worth checking for this before stripping the head off again.
