help needed please

hi there everyone, i have just got my first surf and am looking for some advice please,
i have read the (faq)on this website and still looking for help.
how do i use this little gear knob that says h4-n-l4?
i know it is only for wet slippy days but how do i get it move up or down?
do i take it out of drive and put it in park or neut?
when this is done do i not use the auto box just use the little one?

also is it ok to drive all time with the over drive on or should it be off?
is leaveing it in overdrive causeing damage to the auto box?

Only use 4wd on loose surfaces not tarmac as you will damge the transfer case. Select N on main gear selector then move lever to L4 this will give you low box 4wd. Then select drive as normal.
