Yo Guys, Long time no hear, That's cos I've been busy! Working, that is !
Anyway, for those of you who remember my awful oil leak that stopped me from playing at the Nat 4x4 Show last year, here it is , sorted at last, or very nearly.
The culprit is the bottom of the dipstick tube where it enters the block. See pic. Obvious really, but there was so much oil everywhere I could'nt see it, plus I was looking for it much higher up. The damage probably occured when I did the clutch last year. The problem is how to stop the oil spraying out.
Is the tube just pressed in, or held by a nut on the inside? Waggling and tapping have reduced the flow but not quite stopped it.
I know ultimatly, that the real problem is too much crankcase pressure, ie; the engine's knackered, but a re-build at this time is not an option.
I have an idea to staunch the flow tommorrow. I will post the results.
Derek
