  • OVERHEATING PROBLEM "HELP"

I HAVE A 1991 2.4 DIESEL SSR LTD AND A FEW WEEKS AGO THE HEAD WAS CHANGE DUE TO OVERHEATING ALSO BEING CRACKED
THE PROBLEM OF OVERHEATING STILL SEEMS TO BE THEIR BUT NOT AS BAD
IF I PUT THE ENGINE UNDER PRESSURE THE TEMERATURE GOES UP TO NEAR THE RED BUT AS SOON AS I DRIVE BELOW 40MPH IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL.
A NEW STAT WAS FITTED ALONG WITH A NEW RAD CAP
I DONT LOSE ANY WATER IT JUST GETS HOT AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER FOR A SHORT TIME. I HAVE FLUSHED THE SYSTEM OUT BUT STILL THE SAME THE FAN RUNS AS NORMAL. CAN ANYONE OFFER ANY INFO. i WAS THINKS OF REMOVING THE STAT, BUT AFTER READING ON THIS SITE I AM NOT SURE IF THATS A GOOD THING OR BAD

    THANKS

You should take your surf to stevo in Stockport he is the surf doctor. I was very impressed with the job he done on my head. Not only did he fit the new head but he also reconditioned my viscous fan. When he was showing me all the stuff he had done he demonstrated the power behind it and I can tell you it was like a jet engine it was mental. If I was you id start with the viscous fan that is if there is no airlocks in your cooling system.

    That pesky car salesman again!

Its getting hot way too fast at 40mph. Check all the air is out of the cooling system 1st.

Would really checks for airlocks after a new head and flush.
Make sure both heaters set to hot and get hot, its a common mistake so not taking the p*** but you did fill it up via the rad cap and not the expansion bottle.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.
