  • Idle Speed? 550rpm too low??

    Hi,

My Surf idles fine but seems low @550rpm.
Is this ok or should it be adjusted?

    Thanks

    Mine runs on 900rpm
I think it would stall if it was much lower when going into gear
I thought it was high but most people came back saying it was about right
Lets see what they say about yours

I was thinking this at the lights today. One of my CD's has one of those stupid hidden tracks on it and had a load of dead air. I was too lazy to switch tracks and as a result started to listen to the engine tick over. At first I thought it was running a little fast but I think it was just the result of me listening to the motor without any background intererance. I`ve always hated driving without music as you start to hear things, and those things ain`t voices

Was ticking over at about 850 rpm btw (Manual).

Mine ticks over about 800RPM and is an auto. Mine hunts slightly on tickover so the revs sort of go up and down a bit. I don't know if this is healthy?
              It's only a hobby!

Mine ticks over at 600rpm or 1100rpm on fast idle (idle up or A/C idle up)

                Cheers
