  • Noisy front wheel area.

I heard a weird noise coming from the front offside wheel @ about 40mph yesterday. It was a sort of woowoowoo noise a bit like driving over a rumble strip at high speed. Its the second time its occured, the first time I thought the 4WD was trying to engage as it sounded a bit more metallic but everything looks and seems fine, does anyone have any ideas on this please?
Oh yes the tacho has started acting up, whilst waiting for half an hour for my son to choose the X-box game he wanted and keeping it running for the heat I noticed the tacho was moving erractically between about 100 to 800rpm (no change in engine revs), is this related or am I just lucky?

Check your wheel bearings first, then move on to the CV's

If its wheel bearings, the noise usually disappears if you press the brakes slightly.

no woowoos on my Surf but it's done that rev counter thing, a bit like a little man is sitting behind the dash and disconnecting it every now and then!
